BEAUTY TRANSFORMATION: FROM TECHY TO TRENDY

4 Feb

By Marie

After years of transforming herself into a blonde, our lovely computer
tech Janet, single mother, found her strands were no longer in fighting
shape! Factor in styling tools and constant blow drying, lets just say she
became BFF with breakage and took a sabbatical from getting her hair done!

So I met up with Janet for a consultation and found out she wanted to have
a natural look that a busy mom can maintain, shinier hair and less breakage.

I instantly suggested balayage. Though it sounds like a fancy French ballet
move, it actually translates to sweeping in French. By strategically painting
on highlights, this technique gives you a beautiful, multi-dimensional, sun-
kissed look on any hair color…with absolutely zero line!

First and most important: color correction! Following the law…of color that
is, I added the appropriate pigment necessary to fill the over processed
strands.
On to the balayage! In order to have the highlights show, I started by
determining where she prefers to part her hair (not the natural part). This
prevents the highlights from getting lost in the hair.

Then divided her hair into 3 sections and each received 2-3 rows of
highlights (all strategically placed) and lowlights in between. (to create
dimension)
Finally, applied a gloss to the hair in order to achieve the exact shade of
color and amazing shine I was aiming for. You should always ask for a gloss
at the end of any coloring, you will love it and thank me!

Transformation completed! Our mousy computer tech now looks and feels
like the beautiful trendy professional she always did on the inside. Janet is
ready to take on the world and excited to start the next wonderful chapter in
her life rockin’ her gorgeous new look!!!

Meet Cassandra – our new stylist

17 Jun

cassandra_newstylist.jpg

Meet Cassandra Huertas:  Age: 27   Hometown: Westminster, Calif.

Tell us about yourself: As a very young child, I knew that I wanted to make a career out of being a hairdresser. When I was a child it was called being a “beautician”….LOL. I have not heard it called that for quite a while now.  As a young child, I would go with my mom to the  “beauty” salon and watch the stylist juggle the task of styling my mom’s hair while answering all of my silly non-stop questions about what she was doing and why… As I grew up and attended Huntington Beach High School , my goal of becoming a hairdresser never changed. I knew that immediately upon graduation, I would attend Cosmetology School, and I did just that.. After about 16 months of full time study I went on to receive  my State board of Cosmetology license and the rest is history .

Inspiration: Always inspired in my daily life with new and exciting ideas for hair as well as make up, I draw great inspiration just looking out at my surroundings. I absolutely love the beach and it has become a wonderful inspiration for the work I am doing at Meleesa the Salon.

Favorite part of the day: The best part of what I do would have to be watching my clients that are finished with their service and seeing them feel rejuvenated. The confidence that radiates from them is a clear satisfaction for me and the reason why I absolutely love this profession.

Free Time: In my free time I love spending it at home with my boyfriend, Anthony, and  my dog, Bones, and spending time with my family. I love being home and it is so important to me that I spend those priceless everyday moments with the ones I love. I think it is so incredibly important to have a strong home base and to continue to practice the same values I had when I was growing up. Also,  I am also a huge Colorado River fan and in the summer, Anthony and I spend a lot of time on our boat relaxing in the Arizona sun..

Favorite Style: I love love love the look of the 40′s..Not just pin curls and barrel rolls but the actual texture they created in the hair. It is all about smooth, shiny locks and the styles created in that era radiates the idea of sophistication and confidence.

Plans for the future: I aspire to get into more print work for both hair and make up. I would love to get more into costume and special effects make up as well. It is one of my favorite things to do and I  hope to have more opportunity’s to show this side of my work. Also, I love doing  fashion shows and will continue to be involved in that aspect of my business. Of course I will continue to rock out some great hair at MELEESA the SALON. This is such an amazing industry we are in, with great opportunities, and I intend to take advantage of them all.

I am proud to be currently a part of the team at Meleesa the Salon in downtown Huntington Beach. It is an amazing salon with an amazing staff and I very much enjoy being a part of this salon family.
