This is what Brittany had to write regarding Team 1′s challenge:

So with our Makeover challenge model we choose to go with a vintage look. This was a look that really inspired Tara and Brittany. To achieve this style we went though and did a heavy highlighting over a span of two appointments. The tones we were going for were soft and creamy blondes. To enhance Denise’s hair and give it fullness and length we put in some amazing extensions. The next step was to blend Denise’s hair with the extensions by adding some gorgeous layering. The final stage of this amazing journey was the photo shoot where we had so much fun. To prep Denise’s hair for the shoot we put her hair in glamorous curls and created the “S” shape in front of her face, and to finish some beautiful makeup. This vintage glam look is definitely Brittany and Tara’s favorite style. With wine colored lips, the final look of our makeover was very exotic and fun.

This is what Veruska had to write regarding Team 2′s challenge:

This is our lovely model Rachael O Neill . I have to say that Heather and I enjoyed working on her..She’s a lot of fun .

So to first start off when it came to Rachael, transformation wasn’t the word that came to mind , it was more like enhance . Enhance the natural beauty that is Rachael. Yet at the same time, it would be fun to take a daring approach to her .

First we started off by cutting several inches off .wasn’t to sure where we were going Togo  with it , but her awesome bone structure and jawline it would nt do her justice not showing that off . Finished it off by giving her a heavy Bang to bring out those gorgeous eyes of hers .

When it came to her color I definitely didn’t want to do anything cliche on her like the lighter double processed procedures . Where to go where to go ? Heather and I have been collaborating ideas about turning her into a red head , but in the end with her haircut being dramatic , we decided on richening her natural gorgeous dark hair with an array of beautiful red and auburn shades to . I approached this technique with using foils and  different color creations with various deep red shades . Finished off by using a hi shine all over gloss revealing in the end deep jeweled  luxurious tones throughout her hair .

When it came to products Rachael’s hair is fine textured but has lots of it . Sounds familiar?
The two aspects of styling that we wanted to focus on Rachael’s hair were volume and texture . Texture is needed to support the volume we created .
The following products are as follows
Kevin Murphy Bodybuilder mousse and Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity spray were used to create mass volume while Kevin Murphy Hair Resort spray went in created texture to support the volume that is in the hair . The result was movement and versatility .

We also wanted a street chic look for her , and wanted to see the fun that we could have combining edge to her outfit without taking away the femininity that she so naturally exudes

The makeup itself was amazing, again going back to enhancing and bringing out Rachael’s gorgeous features .

Standing back looking at the end result . We thought to ourselves …
Enhancement has taken a backseat .
Not only did transformation take place but the word that came to mind was luminous ….
Thank you Rachael for being our muse .

Kali Jones – Circa
I have a client at the Cannes Film Festival right now and she asked me how to do her own Red Carpet Look. We stared by applying surf spray all over and brilliantine at the ends. Then blew the hair out section by section. From there we used Spray de Mode and curled with a 1 inch iron leaving the last inch of hair out. After it was complete we broke it down, applied some powder, shook it and finished with classic. Her hair was as big as her smile!

Samantha Shafer – The Loft Hair Design
I Love using the Curl Conscious Holding Foam as a root boost in the crown!! It gives the extra hold I need for a voluptuous blowout without the weight all over the hair.

Amanda Bowes – Rumors Salon
I love using Hair Powder with Sumowax for styling men’s short hair!

Here at Meleesa the Salon:

-Grooming Crème and Surf Spray for awesome beachy texture.

-Leave In (rinse out) and DeFrizz for a gorgeous, frizz-free and humidity resistant blow out with tons of shine.

-Mix Sumotech with Tonic Lotion for an easier application.

The Makeover Challenge is Back!

Team 1: Meleesa and Ashley

Challenge: Lee

Team 1

It is impossible to say enough good things about Meleesa and the salon, or should I say “community” that she has created.  I have been a client of Meleesa’s for many years now and up until recently I have never been brave enough to take risks with my hairstyle.  One of the best things about my experiences at Meleesa is that no matter how much or how little I choose to do for a haircut I always leave there feeling stylish.

When Melessa told me about the makeover challenge I was so excited.  It was time to try something completely out of my comfort zone.  I put my trust into the hands of Melessa and Ashley and the results…FABULOUS!  My new look gets me compliments on a daily basis and I am so glad that I let them work their magic because it was a success and I have bangs for the first time in my life!

On a personal note, I just love going into the salon.  Everyone is so friendly and it does feel like a true neighborhood small business with big city style.  I wouldn’t go anywhere else!  Lee Ann Salkowitz

Team 3

I am so thankful to know all of the gals at Meleesa The Salon! These girls are talented artists and stylists who have so much passion for what they do! I have been going to Meleesa The Salon for about a year and am always recommending it to friends and family! A little over a year and a half ago I had to make a choice to better my life, my health, and my overall being. So, what did I do? I ran out and bought a pair of running shoes and started walking and then running by the beach.I needed to be the best Parissa I could be. I also took control of my eating habits and focused on foods that would help me and not hurt me. With time it paid off and shortly there after I met the sweet girls at Meleesa The Salon. Going to Meleesa’s was such a perk and reward. Each time I left the salon, I left with a smile. I truly began to get my spring back in my step. Everyone who leaves the salon leaves with a smile!!! I have personally observed this.
People on the streets would notice the smile and true happiness on my face and say hello and compliment my looks. I felt so good, like a princess! It helped to bring the encouragment in my life that I so needed.  When Adrienne and Jessica approached me about the makeover challenge I was super thrilled! I love a challenge and this was yet another chance to experience something amazing! I went home and danced around my living room and couldn’t believe that I had been selected. Adrienne and Jessica who I like to call “Team Awesome” did just that! They are two awesome artists who have hearts of gold! Their time, dedication, and collaborative efforts produced what you see in my after photo. If there is someone that has truly been touched by this makeover challenge, I would say it is me. Thanks Adrienne and Jessica for making a difference in my life and for bringing back the smile on my face. By the way, can I say it was sooo much fun doing the hair, make up, tan, and photos!!! Wow! What an experience! If I could, I’d do it again and I’d want it the exact same way!  I wouldn’t change a thing
