Meleesa’s Hair Tips #2 – Easy up-do

18 Mar

1. Start with dry hair and divide it into 2 sections, like if you are going to do two low ponytails.

2. Using a clear rubber band, tie them loosely.

3. Now, with each ponytail, you are going to separate them into two. Then twist each section (do a 2 strand twist) and tie at the bottom

4. Grab your left twist, pin to the right and then the right twist to the left. Pin securely with a bobby pin or two on each side.

5. Accessorize with a flower or bow and take it away!

Meleesa’s Hair Tips #1 – How to achieve sexy wavy hair

11 Mar

1. Start with dry hair. If it is damp, follow the same steps but apply product
on damp hair and dry completely.
2. Apply Body Builder by Kevin Murphy, a tennis ball size (depending on
density and length) on your comb, brush or hand. The proceed to comb
through mid shaft to ends. For our model, we used the amount of 3 tennis
balls all together.
3. Use your blow-dryer to work Bodybuilder in the hair.
4. Using a Curling Wand start to curl the hair in horizontal, 1 1/12 inch
sections. Hold the hair till it feels hot, let go and let cool.
5. Once the hair is cooled down and all curled, use your Anti-Static Comb by
Kevin Murphy to comb the hair out.
6. To enhance and add more SEXY to your hair, take the comb and back
comb the curls in an upward motion.
-To Backcomb, start with holding the hair on the bottom. Begin combing the
hair in an upward motion. Think of it as dividing the hair in 4 sections, from
ear to ear and from front to back.
7. Twist the hair and spray with Infinium 3 hairspray by Loreal.
8. Enjoy!

Dolls Dolls Dolls!

As a child I wasn’t into playing with dolls .
Then one day I was given a doll , discovered a pair of scissors and well you guys can figure out what happened next .
Now as an adult and a hairstylist I look to dolls when I’m trying to figure out a new hair style .
In this particular case it’s been braids , an obsession of mine since we got our braid bar in the salon AND I saw Hunger Games .
Can I say Obsessed?!!!

Anyhow while my daughter Maya was sleeping , I got her Jasmine Barbie and one her other dolls and started braiding away !! Lol! Just a couple of days ago I did another braid on of our our doll heads .

Im having fun so when I think of dolls , play , fun , and inspiration comes to mind so I guess all of this makes sense right ?

“This is my friend/personified inspiration Meleesa, owner of Meleesa the Salon in Huntington. Taught a class there today and am continually blessed to have such great industry sisters! Probably one of the youngest mature salon owners I have ever met, Meleesa’s salon environment encompasses everything from ultra girly to the zen culture. Taking cues from style trends to meet clients needs, Meleesa just recently added the Brow Bar, and (the new IT creative child ) Braid Bar. However we must not forget her biggest fan: salon mascot Luna, her dog:)”
